Selangorlicious! Food Blogging Competition.

The Selangorlicious Team and Tourism Selangor has launched Foodster Blogging Competition 2011. This events held at Fullhouse Lifestyle Store and Cafe Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara last March 31, 2011.

This competition officially beginning from 1st to 31st May 2011. Participants can join the Selangorlicious! Facebook fanpage or go to www.selangorlicious.my for more information.
The competition was the result of a collaboration between Tourism Selangor and 2 young creative agencies based in the Klang Valley, Storm Studio and Bright Lights After Midnight, which came up with this unique idea to promote food tourism in the State.

Even better, all the effort poured in by bloggers will be rewarded with various prizes waiting to be won. I think not only this competition will attract existing food bloggers, but it will also attract new bloggers or even non-bloggers who want to participate." YB Puan Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping, Chairman Standing Commitee Tourism, Consumer Affairs & Environment Of Selangor said "Selangorlicious! is a campaign that has been specifically innovated to promote food tourism in this state. It will be the official banner to spearhead all food related tourism activities and events in Selangor. Under this campaign, you will be able to get all the information you need regarding food events and eating places in Selangor under one roof.

Selangorlicious! will be an ongoing campaign and Tourism Selangor already has plans for the rollout of the campaign throughout the year till next year, leading to June 2012 as the official food month for Selangor. We are kicking off the campaign with a bang with the Foodster Blogging Competition, and we hope it will be a hit among the blogging community. But this is just the start to a year-long celebration of food and food outlets in Selangor."

She added "What is the "official" food of Selangor? When we talk about Penang, everyone immediately thinks of nasi kandar or char koay teow. When we talk about Melaka, we think of nyonya and Portuguese cooking. But what comes to mind when it comes to Selangor? This is one of the main objectives of this campaign: to identify eating places unique to this state and turn it into a "brand name", so to speak."

Selangorlicious! Food Blogging Competition

Competition Mechanism

Open to Malaysians and foreign visitors to Malaysia of all ages, the Selangorlicious! Foodster Blogging Competition will run from 1st to 31st May 2011.

To participate, contestants need to follow these easy steps:

1) Go out and eat at any public eatery (big or small) in Selangor.

2) Write about your experience on your blog (make it as interesting as possible!).

3) Submit the write-up to our website at www.selangorlicious.my, together with photos of the visit.

Prizes

1st Prize – RM5000 cash prize and a holiday package

2nd Prize – RM 3000 cash prize and a holiday package

3rd Prize – RM1500 cash prize and dinner vouchers

Consolation Prize – 3 x RM500 cash prize and dinner vouchers

Best Food Photography – RM1000 and digital SLR camera

Best Food Ptohography (Runner Up) – a digital camera

Best Food Photography (Consolation) – a digital camera

Weekly prizes – goodie hampers

Submission Criteria

Writeups must be between 400 and 800 words in length, written in either English or Bahasa Malaysia. Each writeup must be accompanied by 2 to 10 photographs (in jpeg format) of the food trip, as follows:

1) At least one photo of the eatery exterior

2) At least one photo of the food

3) Up to 8 additional photos of the food served at the sitting (and/or the participants enjoying their food)

Participants must sign up for a username and password at www.selangorlicious.my.

Opening and Closing Date
The website will be opened to receive registrations and submission at midnight on 1st May 2011. The final date for entry submissions is midnight on 31st May 2011.
